Windows 7 Download Gadgets Themes Windows 7 comes with an array of built in desktop gadgets and themes.  In case you want more than what’s available with the default Windows 7 install, you can always download more from the Microsoft website.

Microsoft gadget downloads and theme downloads are free, which is nice.

To download a gadget or a theme, first go to the Windows Personalize your PC page of the Microsoft Windows website.

The first thing you will see is a sample theme, desktop (wallpaper) and gadget you can download.

Below that there are several tabs, giving you access to to a variety of themes, desktop backgrounds (or wallpaper), gadgets and slideshow gadgets.

Click one of these tabs to see a variety of Windows 7 themes or gadgets you can download for free.

Themes include the country themes (Germany, Japan, United Kingdom, United States)

There are some themes from specific locations:

  • Beaghmore Stones (Northern Ireland, UK)
  • Blossoms & Mt Fuji (Japan)
  • College of Fine Arts (Dresden, Germany)
  • Crater Lake Sunset (Oregon, USA)
  • Hana Highway (Hawaii, USA)
  • Isle of Lewis (Scotland, UK)
  • Llanrwst (Wales, UK)
  • Niers Niederrhein (Germany)
  • Shi Shi Beach (Washington, USA)
  • Tokyo Tower (Tokyo, Japan)
  • Vineyards (Germany)

There are also some other themes:

  • Butterfly, and
  • Nature
  • Maple Leaves (Japan)
  • Rocky Seashore
  • Sunset Gold & Blue

All in all, you can spend endless time making your computer look pretty, which sure beats working!

The Slideshow gadgets tab includes these:

  • Feed Viewer

Most of the Windows 7 gadgets look fairly useful.
