Windows 7 looks like it will be adopted by Intel much more quickly than Vista, according to Intel’s executive vice president, Sean Maloney.

This combines a back-handed complement for Windows 7 and a bit of a slap in the face regarding Vista.  Given the long history of interdependence between Microsoft and Intel, this is an unusually strong statement.

A lot of people really thought Vista sucked, and that had a lot to do with compatibility issues.

Intel was in no hurry to upgrade to Vista, preferring to wait for a service pack that made Vista a possible alternative.  Even then I doubt they’ve made a complete switch.

Maloney is much more positive about Windows 7.  Windows XP compatibility mode is a big help, making it possible to use the new operating software and still run legacy software.

Anyone else have feelings about this?
